bling and charms

I can finally post these photos as I've given this card to my friend Julie for her 'unretirement'.

I decided to do another shutter card as I'd had the idea for charms dangling in windows, and this seemed a good way to achieve the look I'd imagined.

I dipped into the stash of Kraft CS for the base and the PP is Basic Grey 'Two Scoops'. A little bit of stamping with some office-style date stamps and then I embellished and doodled to my hearts content!
The swirl of gems on the front were put on with one of my favourite toys - the Kandi-Kane aka around here as 'The Blinger' ! (It's a hot fix gem applicator, like the Bejeweller).
The 1 1/2" scallop circle apertures were punched out with an EK Success punch (not the larger Stampin Up punch).

The flowers are by Jolees and a selection of cute gems attached with jump rings and brads finished off my relax/kick back/ have fun message for the card.
I'm really pleased with it, it's come out as I'd wanted and (most importantly of all) Julie seemed to like it!

I'm off duty now for a few days after 4 gruelling night duties.
And now, I'm going to have a little rant about selfish people. Feel free to skip this if you wish!
Over the last few nights our unit has been even hotter and more humid than usual. In our office/reception area, the temperature was 90 degrees AARGH!!! and the rooms for the labouring women weren't much cooler.
At the start of the night I was in our hot operating theatre (gowned, gloved, visored and masked, sweat running freely get the picture!)
Later on, I'm working in our hottest room which has the birthing pool (which adds to the humidity, making it feel somewhat sauna-like). There wasn't a fan in the room and the lady I was caring for actually got out of the pool as she felt too hot (she went on to have a very beautiful drug-free birth :))). And then...a few hours later.... I discovered that one of my colleagues actually had had TWO fans in her room all along...GRR!!
Rant over!

  1. OMG! That card is an amazing labour of love (excuse the pun)! It's AMAZING! So much attention to detail! The charms are SO sweet hanging from tiny windows and the bling is beautiful!
We all need a space to rant - and your rant is certainly justified!! I'd have hit the roof if my colleague had two fans and didn't share! My work is way too hot with sticky, sweaty, teenagers throwing water everywhere!
Have a fab few days off, hun!

  2. What a lovely card Alison. Looks quite complicated to do I guess its just knowing where to cut and fold!! I am not surprised your friend liked it. Has been a hot one today 84 degrees here in sunny blackpool...We shouldn't complain at the lovely weather but when at work we are just not geared up for it. My boss went off to buy fans yesterday and we have just had alovely new building!! Hoping to get over to windmill crafts for your next demo with tilda :)

  3. WOW. Fantastic card and those charms are set off beautifully in the apertures.

Don't blame you for the rant. Hope the place has cooled down by the time you have to go back.

  4. Alison this looks absolutly amazing !!! What a lovely and intricate design. Hugs M xxx

  5. This is gorgeous Alison. The charms are just beautiful.

    Teri xx
